HAYFEVER (SEASONAL ALLERGIC RHINITIS) . BOOK NOW
This is very common and affects a lot of families in our community in Glenrothes in Fife.
We are here to help and can offer you a triage consultation with any of our 4 highly trained Pharmacists.
Our NHS Minor Ailments clinic for Hayfever is part of the National NHS programme to support people who need advice and/or treatment for common minor ailments.
Symptoms will typically consist of seasonal sneezing, nasal itching, nasal blockage, and watery nasal discharge. Eye symptoms (red, itchy, watery eyes) are common (see allergic conjunctivitis). Other symptoms may include cough, wheeze, and shortness of breath. Other symptoms include tiredness, fever, a pressure sensation in the head, and itchiness.
Our Pharmacists will help by advising and treatments with antihistamines or in some cases a nasal spray may also be required.
Allergen avoidance is advised but is not always practical or effective at reducing symptoms. Pollen counts are issued during the summer months and may help to determine when outdoor activities should be avoided or windows should be kept shut, or when to take an oral antihistamine if only taking when required.
Many people with asthma suffer from hay fever, whether seasonally or all year round. It's not uncommon for uncontrolled hay fever to lead to an increase in asthma symptoms and as such, managing your hay fever is a key part of controlling your asthma
