BOOK NOW TO ACCESS THIS CARE
Bernadette Brown and her award winning team of Pharmacists are proud to announce that after a pilot NHS service from 2016 -2018, the local GP cluster for Glenrothes and NHS Fife have approved this NHS clinic to support local GP's.
This work has been recognised by our local MP and MSP, Peter Grant MP and Jenny Gilruth MSP with motions to both Westminster and to Scottish Parliament for easing the burden on our GPs. We are grateful for their continued support of Community Pharmacy and this journey over the last 6 years to transform the care we can offer the public with our national services and now this locally approved enhanced service. We also appreciated the personal visits to meet the public and staff at our health centre.
The clinic has been a resounding success story for the most important people ,the residents of Glenrothes who accessed this care during the pilot.
This service allows the Pharmacists who are qualified and have gone back to University to become prescribers and get more skills to triage your families for the following list of conditions that would normally have to be treated by a nurse practitioner or GP.
Skin Flare ups Eczema or Psoriasis
Asthma flare ups
COPD Flare ups
Gout Flare ups
Insect or Animal Bites
We are very grateful to the many families who chose to trial this new way of working and the feedback was excellent especially regarding the ease at which they could access a highly qualified NHS Healthcare professional at a time that suited them.
It is a dream come true for Bernie who wanted to use the skills and qualifications as a Pharmacist having worked in Leslie Medical Practice for 9 years and gaining a wonderful training and insights form the local GPs into being able to help people more to get healthy and stay healthy.
To now be able to offer this advanced triage clinic and support families when they have a common minor illness is the most professionally rewarding part of her job in over 30 years practising as a Pharmacist.
The health centre at Cadham Pharmacy offers many clinics and from Monday 15th April we will have a Prescriber available 6 days a week apart form our holidays and next year when Kara comes on board we will be able to offer this all year round.
Bernie has invested in the robots to support safe dispensing and highly skilled technicians allowing the Pharmacists to have more TIME to spend face to face in custom built consultation rooms.

We are very grateful to all the GPs who have supported the service level agreement and continuing this clinic after the pilot ended and evaluation was presented.
All our Pharmacists would very much like to than Dr DeSoyza at Leslie Medical Practice who has been inspirational and a wonderful GP mentor to Maree who achieved a Clinical Diploma with distinction and became an Independent Prescriber with distinction. Her support and help was invaluable and Kara will now get the benefit of being mentored by this local GP when she starts her course in 2019. Kara is also a clinical pharmacist and also attained a distinction with her clinical diploma.
We also want to thank the Scottish Government for supporting us and believing in us and NHS Fife who have helped in setting up a service level agreement with the local GP Practices.
It is an honour and privilege to get this opportunity to support the public with this NHS service and we will continue to support families and treat when we can and refer to your GP practice if needed.
